Barcelona set to appoint Ronald Koeman as new manager as Quique Setien sack is confirmed.
Following the confirmed sack of Barca's former manager, Quique Setien, a new club manager whose name is Ronald Koeman, is set to become the club's new head coach.
Koeman is presently working as a head coach with the Dutch national team.
The decision to hire Koeman was taken in a three hour meeting held by the club's board members in camp Nou.Then Setien departure was announced to the press.
Koeman who once served as a manager for the Everton Football Club and Southhampton Football Club was first approached by Barcelona to be their coach in January, but he rejected because he said that he didn't want to leave the Netherlands five months before the Euro 2020.
Koeman deal with Barcelona is set to be a two years deal,but there will be a presidential election in March,Then his continuity as a manager in the club will be in the hands of the new president that is going to be elected.
There are speculations that the present president of the club, 'Maria Bartomeu' might be replaced by a leading opposition whose name is 'Victor Font'.and Font had made it clear that if he is the president the club's new coach will be Xavi Hernandez.
Bartomeu called Koeman to take over on Sunday night, he departed camp Nou and admitted that Setien was sacked and a fourthteen board meeting,eight of them in camp Nou and the remaining six attended through online medium.
Bartomeu preference had been former Tottenham Hotspur manager,Maurocio pochettino and he had been backed up by Ramon Planes and Eric Abidal, in charge of the technical secretariat.But it is likely that Abidal who is the fourth sporting director that Bartomeu had may also be sacked in coming days as other board members urged the president to rethink owing to Pochettino's identifications with city rivals Espaniol.
Pochettino said he would prefer to go and work in his farm land in Argentina than for him to manage Barcelona which is now in chaos. He then denied his speech when he was asked the same question in an interview.
There have been talks of Lionel Messi planning to leave the club, but it has not been confirmed by him.
