Here are Twitter's update on the hack attack and stolen information on high profile account.

Following the hack attack on twitter, twitter has revealed what happened that made the hackers to be able to break through their security wall. This has been one of the intense hack attack to have headlines in news around the world in 2020 as some high profile account like that of Bill Gates, Elon Musk,  Kanye West, Former US President Barack Obama, Michael Bloomberg and US presidential candidate Joe Biden's account was also hacked.

It is reported that some information has been stolen from some of the hacked accounts.

Twitter also confirmed that the hackers may have downloaded the private direct messages of about 8 individuals whike they were conducting their bitcoin scam. 

According to their support account on twitter;

"For up to eight of the twitter accounts involved, the attackers took the additional step of downloading the account's information through the our 'Your Twitter Data Tool',We are reaching out directly to any account owner where we know this to be true".

Twitter also cited that the hackers may even have the Direct Messages(DM) of the 8 individuals before the owners of the accounts deleted it. 

NOTE:Twitter servers has the ability to store messages of users even if the messages have been deleted from the DM of the user's account.

Following the speculations about the identity of the accounts.
Twitter claims that none of the eight accounts where verified twitter accounts, suggesting that none of the high profile individual targeted had their data downloaded. 

According to Twitter; 

"There is a lot of speculation about the identity of these eight accounts, we will only disclose this to the impacted accounts,however to address some of the speculations,none of the eight were verified account"
