Leaders in the European countries have decided to celebrate the 75th anniversary of V-day in a silent way because of the novel corona virus which has disrupted most events around the world and gradually deviating the world's most powerful economies.
The V-day(Victory in Europe Day) is a day that celebrated majorly by the europeans to celebrate and mark the day towards the end of World War II(World War 2) when the fight that took place in europe against the Nazi Germany which was controlled by a Nazi general came to an end.
The European leader who announced the victory was Prime Minister Winston Churchill,In the year 1945 May 8, Winston Churchill announced at 3pm that the war in Europe had come to an end.
Note:The V-day that is celebrated by the Europeans was not the day that the World War 2 ended,After the celebrations that were made by the the people Prime Minister Winston Churchill also announced that,
"We may allow ourselves a brief period of rejoicing, but let us not forget for a moment the toil and effort that lie ahead".
The World War 2 came to an end few months after the surrender of the germans,in the year August 1945.
Despite the corona virus lockdown images were taken of the France president laying wreath to the tomb of a soldier who had fought in the war,the tribute paying and ceremonies held were not open to the public as it was attended by some who strictly obeyed the social distancing rule.
Chancellor Merkel led a ceremony Germany's centre war memorial called Neue Wache,which honours the victim of war and dictatorship.
Some of the major reasons the world War II is being celebrated widely,is because of the hostility,nearly uncountable numbers of death,highest percentages of racism ever recorded, were other races like Jews,blacks, and others races were persecuted,world wide economy downfall,wastage of resources on weapons,abusing of human rights,abusing of women and girls especially by hostile soldiers and lost of loved ones.
The world War 2 cost more than 50 million lives of whom about 25 million lost lives were Soviet soldiers.
