EU donates 50 million euros to nigerian


European Union tells nigeria that the 21 billion Naira donated was meant for the poor and vulnerable people.

The European Union Delegation to nigerians Ecowas amb ketil karlsen said that the 50 million euros donated to nigerian was to combat the issues of the poor citizens in the country.

He said that the contribution was meant for the provision of personal protection equipment,kits and to double the testing capacity of covid-19 in the nation.said that the fund will be administered by the United Nations to the country to encourage capability to efficiently handle the covid-19 toll in the country.

According to his speech in quotes;
  "That is why part of the 50 million euros would also be relief and safety net for most vulnerable people,internally displaced persons,the poor that depends on the informal market, they do day to day work put food on their table,IDPs and these particularly vulnerable people are the centre stage of our intervention."
  
  "The pandemic pandemic requires global responses and if we try to fix it country by country we may not get it right and that is why we are adopting a multi lateral approach."

  "so team europe came with a significant package for nigeria we are mobilising €50 million and €1.2 that we already gave to humanitarian assistance through UNICEF.

According to the speech given by ketil karlsen,it was made known to nigerians that an amount of money had just been contributed to nigerian, the value of the money converted into nigerian currency is 21 billion naira,during his speech he also made known to the public that the contributed money was not for financing of the federal government budget but was majorly for containing the spread of the corona virus and elevating the poorest and most vulnerable citizens in the country for a better living.

President Buhari received the delegation fund and said that the fund would go a long way in supporting Nigerians effort in controlling and containing the corona virus.
The Federal Government announced sympathy for the Nigerians and members of the European Union who has lost to the corona virus pandemic around the world.
