While the whole world economy plunges to nothing due to the corona virus pandemic toll that started in the year 2019 in the city of Wuhan Chinay as code named Covid-19.
Major economies in the world have been suffering recently due to the outbreak and shutdown laws have been enforced to encourage social distancing and self isolation among citizens to reduce the risk of spreading and contracting the corona virus.
Amid this occurrence,some conspiracy theories had been trending recently based on the controversial 5G network which has been getting much and large amount of attention this period of the outbreak.one of the conspiracy theories following the virus is that people believes that the corona virus is somehow linked to the 5G network technology,this claims by people has not been confirmed by any proof yet,as scientist are still trying to fill the gap to know more than they already know about the virus now.
According to a AI(artificial intelligence) company called Yonder that monitors online information and data on the internet including misinformation explains that conspiracy theories that should be held on minor groups are now trending worldwide by travelling in the main stream quicker amid this pandemic.
A report by the company states that;
"The main stream is unusually accepting of conspiration thinking,alarm,rumour in this times a phenomenon that explains the movement of misinformation that we are seeing now."
The company estimates that it would on a normal note take six months and above for narratives outside the main stream to make it way from the corner of the internet to the mainstream.
"in the current infodemic, we have seen conspiracy theories and other forms of misinformation spread across the internet at an unprecedented velocity."
This was what the yonder chief innovation officer told Tech Crunch.it was said that the conspiracy theories about the 5G network is not new but the theories in relation to corona virus pandemic that are new. Ryan Fox said that 5G misinformation from online factors like Qanon or Anti-vaxxers has existed for months but is accelerating into the mainstream rapidly due to the association with Covid-19 .
And also this conspiracy theory has paved way for scams who offer fake cures and preventive measures in order to cash out.this means that due to the corona virus pandemic, scams and conspiracy theories are gaining traction and velocity more than ever before.
