Former president:Olusegun Obasanjo writes to present president on national debate on security matters

Olusegun Obasanjo writes to Buhari about national debate on the security challenges in the country.


Obasanjo writes to Buhari in which he made published by the news agency of Nigeria (Nan),which made some nigerians to wonder if the meeting was going to be made published by the news agency just like he published the message to Buhari. 

He showed concern over the security matters in nigeria like the Boko Haram and the herdsmen and farmers clash in some part of the country.he said that there should be a major tactics to stop the Boko Haram terrorist group.
       According to him; Boko Haram would not go just with the basis of stick alone,carrots must outweigh stick,how else do you think of dealing with matters of only fifty percent literacy in the north eastq and about seventy percent unemployment in total.
The president went ahead to stress the importance create a platform that would end the grieviance between the Fulani herdsmen and other ethnic groups in the country should be addressed.
"whatever maybe the grievance of the Fulani herdsmen if any,the grievance should be brought out to the public,if legitimate will be addressed."and if any ethnic group have grievances,let them also be brought out in the open and be addressed through debate and dialougue.
He also said that well meaning Nigerians have continue to proffer different solutions to address the challenges,implementing that all calls and cries can only be ignored at the expense of the Nigeria unity,if not it's continued existence.
He also emphasized on the importance of cooperation and support from nigerians to ensure effective implementation of desired initiative,
"like on the problem of security,government should open up discussion,debate and dialougue as part of consultation at different levels."
"The outcome of such deliberation should be collated to form input into the national conference to come up with solutions that will effectively deal with issues and lead to rapid development,growth and progress".
"such development would give us wholesome society and living standard in an inclusive and shared community".
"It will be a national programme" we need unity of purpose and a nationally accepted strategic roadmap that wil not change with whims and caprice of any government."
"it must be owned by citizens,people policy and strategy implemented by government to matter it colour and leaning".

 And lastly,he made suggestions on groups that should be called out to address national debate are traditional rulers, former governors,former para-military heads,community leaders,private sector operators and also civil engineers and others.
